Well visit gone bad...
This is an oldie but a goody. When Preston turned six we took him for his well check up. He also needed 2 shots for the school year. When the doctor came in and began asking me questions, it was evident that Preston was not pleased that he was being ignored. After all, he was six now. He was perfectly capable of answering questions about himself. So, when she asked if he had any allergies, he was quick to speak up. "Actually, I do have a couple of allergies. I am allergic to mold and 'pissinilin'." Our doctor gave me a quick smirk and pressed on. Her next question was about his sleeping patterns and diet. Again, Preston was quick to answer with, "I sleep fine, and I eat great." To top off the visit he took both shots without shedding a single tear.

Cars under the stars...
We recently took the boys to see Cars at the Rough Rider ball park in Frisco. Acute Kids Urgent Care hosted a free event for its patients. You know you have seen the inside of the local urgent care way too often when you get invited to VIP events :). The boys had such a good time!!! They were thoroughly entertained by the temporary tattoos, face paint, and play ground before the show. They thought it was the greatest thing ever to watch a movie outside!!!

Astro Boy
We had family movie night a few weeks ago, and the boys picked "Astro Boy"! For whatever reason this movie really struck a cord with Grant, and he has been all about pretending he is a boy robot that is here to save the day. Well, a few days after the movie I was in the kitchen making lunch when he went tearing across the living room and quickly ducked into my bedroom. I knew something was up, so I quietly peaked into my room and saw him rummaging through the shoes in my closet. I decided to leave him be and continued to make our lunch. A few moments later he came sneaking out of my bedroom with something hidden behind his back. Again, he went tearing across the living room and quickly shut the door to the play room. When I called him to lunch, he came out of the bedroom with a sheepish grin and sporting a new outfit. This boy is always keeping us well entertained!

Summer Safari
This is the "sleep juice" gun that he will be using.
This is what Preston will look like to the giraffe when the "sleep juice" kicks in!

Never a dull moment....
My family has been telling me for a while now,"You need to write these things down." They are referring to the funny sayings that Preston and Grant come up with, so I have started this blog so that I can do just that.
Preston
The latest funny saying from Preston came during last night's Mav game. I have been keeping up with the finals, and being the only hard core sports fan in the household I often find myself watching these games alone after the boys have gone to bed. Last night was one of those nights. Preston got up to go to the bathroom, and found me sitting on the couch watching said game. He asked if he could please join me, and since it is summer break I said sure!! We had been watching quite a while when Ray came back inside from working on one of the cars. He wanted to know what Preston was doing out of bed. Preston replied, "Well, you weren't here so someone had to watch the game with Mom!" I love that boy!!
Grant
Grant has decided that he likes helping me in the kitchen! I am thrilled because those are some of my favorite childhood memories with my mom, and up until now the boys just have not shown an interest in being in the kitchen with me unless they are eating something! I was getting set up to make the boys some chocolate pudding for a snack, when Grant comes into the kitchen dragging his little red chair behind him. I told him he could poor the pudding into the bowl while I stirred. As he was "spilling" the pudding mix in he said, "Mom, why are we putting dirt in it?"
Thanks for indulging me!!
